The SCIRehab Project aimed to understand the details of acute spinal cord injury (SCI) rehabilitation. The project involved studying over 1300 patients across six US sites, with data collected from more than 1000 clinicians. The study analyzed various components of rehabilitation, including nursing, therapy (physical, occupational, recreational), speech-language pathology, psychology, and social work.
The findings will contribute to outcomes-based guidelines for clinical decision-making in SCI rehabilitation.
The series will inform study design in SCI rehabilitation for years to come.
The findings, based on practice-based evidence, are sure to provoke discussion and debate in the community of spinal cord injury professionals.
