This study aimed to understand how much caregivers know, how they feel, and what they do to prevent pressure injuries (PIs) in people with spinal cord injuries (SCI). Pressure injuries are a common problem for individuals with SCI due to limited mobility. The study found that caregivers generally have a moderate understanding and practice related to PI prevention, but their attitudes are neutral. This suggests that caregivers might not fully appreciate the importance of consistent preventive measures. The research also identified specific areas where caregivers need more training, such as proper patient positioning, skin care, and regular consultations with doctors. Improving these areas could significantly reduce the occurrence of PIs among SCI patients.
Develop specific educational programs for caregivers focused on improving their knowledge and skills in areas such as patient positioning, skin care, and the importance of regular medical consultations.
Implement strategies to foster a more positive attitude among caregivers towards pressure injury prevention, emphasizing the impact of their role on the well-being of individuals with SCI.
Establish community-based support systems for caregivers to provide ongoing education, resources, and emotional support, ensuring they are well-equipped to manage and prevent pressure injuries effectively.
