This review summarizes the clinical features and prognosis of persons with spinal cord injury (SCI) infected with COVID-19, based on published articles. The study found that fever was the most frequently observed symptom, and elevated C-reactive protein (CRP) and lymphocytopenia were common abnormal laboratory findings in SCI patients with COVID-19. Many authors reported that diagnosis of COVID-19 in their SCI persons was delayed as initial fever was attributed to either UTI or sepsis.
COVID-19 symptoms can overlap with SCI complications, making accurate diagnosis challenging.
Prophylactic/therapeutic anticoagulation was advised in most of the admitted persons with SCI, along with other medications.
There is a need for more focused research and information on the impact of the pandemic on persons with SCI.
