This study explores the perspectives of physical therapists on how well patients with incomplete paraplegia follow their prescribed home exercise programs. It aims to identify factors influencing adherence to these exercises, which are crucial for rehabilitation. The research uses qualitative content analysis, involving interviews with thirteen physical therapists to gather detailed insights into the challenges and facilitators of home exercise adherence among paraplegic patients. The study identifies several key factors, including patient motivation, family support, financial constraints, and the therapist-patient relationship, all of which play a significant role in determining whether patients stick to their home exercise routines.
Develop communication strategies for physical therapists to address patient concerns, build trust, and foster active engagement in home exercise programs.
Design custom-based exercise programs that balance goals, identify limitations, and consider patient's individual needs and resources.
Involve family members in the rehabilitation process to provide support and encouragement, while also addressing potential overprotection or disagreements.
