This study compares nine different handheld ultrasound devices to see which ones work best for abdominal imaging. Experienced examiners tested each device on the same subjects. The study looked at B-scan quality (image clarity), how easy the devices are to handle, and the user-friendliness of the software. The examiners rated each device on a scale. The Vscan Air and SonoEye Chison were rated the highest overall. The B-scan quality varied considerably between the devices, which could affect their usefulness in clinical settings.
The findings assist clinicians in selecting the most suitable HHUS device based on their specific clinical needs and priorities, considering factors like image quality, handling, and software.
The study provides insights for ultrasound training programs, emphasizing the importance of familiarizing users with different devices and their specific features to optimize clinical performance.
Identified discrepancies in B-scan quality and other features can guide manufacturers in improving future HHUS device designs, focusing on enhancing image resolution and usability.
