The case report describes a young man with a spinal cord injury who experienced frequent, unwanted erections. These erections were not related to sexual stimulation and occurred many times throughout the day and night. The patient was treated with baclofen, a medication that can help relax muscles. After starting baclofen, the frequency and duration of the erections decreased, and the patient was satisfied with the treatment. The authors present this case to remind doctors that recurrent priapism can occur in men with spinal cord injuries. They also discuss the use of medications, particularly baclofen, to manage this condition.
Clinicians should be aware of recurrent priapism as a possible complication in men with complete spinal cord lesions.
Baclofen can be considered as a treatment option for recurrent priapism in SCI patients.
Further research is needed to understand the underlying mechanisms and optimal management strategies for recurrent priapism in SCI.
