Spinal cord injury can lead to bladder dysfunction, known as neurogenic bladder, which affects urine storage and emptying. This can lead to complications like urinary tract infections and kidney damage. Current treatments, including surgery and drugs, can negatively impact mental health. Intermittent catheterization is presented as a method to improve life quality, reduce psychological burden, and decrease negative emotions. Rehabilitation nursing is essential for restoring bladder function, reducing complications, and improving the quality of life for individuals with neurogenic bladder after spinal cord injury. Psychological support is also important.
The review highlights the importance of incorporating intermittent catheterization and psychological support into rehabilitation programs to improve patient outcomes and quality of life.
The findings suggest that healthcare providers should focus on holistic care, addressing both the physical and psychological needs of patients with neurogenic bladder after spinal cord injury.
The review identifies the need for further research to explore personalized nursing measures and optimize rehabilitation strategies for patients with neurogenic bladder.
