This case report discusses the rehabilitation of a 67-year-old woman with a D12 wedge compression fracture and bilateral foot drop, who underwent spinal fusion and posterior decompression. After surgery, she received physiotherapy treatment for three weeks. The physiotherapy protocol included pain relief measures, exercises to improve muscle strength and range of motion, and gait training. The patient's pain, mobility, and functional independence improved after the treatment. The case highlights the importance of physiotherapy in post-operative rehabilitation for patients with vertebral fractures and neurological deficits.
The case report provides a detailed physiotherapy treatment protocol that can be used as a reference for similar cases of post-operative spinal fusion patients with vertebral fractures and foot drop.
The positive outcomes highlight the significance of early physiotherapy intervention in improving functional outcomes and quality of life for patients undergoing spinal fusion and posterior decompression.
The success of the treatment emphasizes the importance of a patient-centered approach to physiotherapy, tailoring the protocol to address the specific needs and deficits of each individual.
