This study explores how a comprehensive vocational rehabilitation program can help people with spinal cord injuries (SCI) return to work. The program focuses on improving employment opportunities, work confidence, overall life satisfaction, and quality of life for individuals with SCI. The program involves assigning participants to work within areas of interest in the hospital, along with weekly meetings to address challenges, provide resources, and set professional goals. Participants' progress was measured using pre- and post-test assessments to evaluate work readiness and well-being. The results suggest that such a program can effectively help individuals with SCI achieve greater independence and confidently seek employment. The program also highlighted the importance of an interdisciplinary approach with healthcare professionals to address work readiness and quality of life.
Rehabilitation programs should adopt a comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach that addresses both work readiness and quality of life for individuals with SCI.
Integrating assistive technology evaluations and devices can significantly improve the ability of individuals with SCI to perform job responsibilities and increase their independence.
Raising employer awareness and providing opportunities for individuals with SCI to return to work can foster more inclusive work environments.
