This study investigates the effectiveness of surgery combined with rehabilitation for treating pressure ulcers in patients with spinal cord disorders. The goal was to see if surgery could heal the ulcers and whether rehabilitation could improve patients' neurological and functional abilities. The study involved 25 patients with spinal cord diseases who underwent surgery to treat their pressure ulcers and also participated in a rehabilitation program. Researchers tracked ulcer healing, complications, recurrence, and improvements in neurological function and daily living activities. The results showed that surgery and rehabilitation together led to good ulcer healing rates, low complication and recurrence rates, and significant improvements in patients' neurological and functional recovery. This suggests that a combined approach is beneficial for patients with spinal cord injuries and pressure ulcers.
Highlights the importance of combining surgical intervention with comprehensive rehabilitation for optimal outcomes in patients with spinal cord injuries and pressure ulcers.
Emphasizes the necessity of timely surgical procedures for Stage III to IV pressure ulcers to prevent complications and promote healing.
Demonstrates the potential for significant neurologic and functional recovery through a combined surgical and rehabilitative approach, leading to improved quality of life.
