A middle-aged woman presented to the emergency department after inserting a sewing needle into her spinal cord while attempting self-acupuncture for chronic neck pain. The patient, lacking formal acupuncture training, used home hand-sewing needles. Imaging confirmed the needle pierced her spinal cord. The needle was removed surgically, and the patient recovered with minimal neurological deficit. Post-operative imaging revealed minor cord edema and hemorrhage.
