This paper introduces a collection of abstracts presented at the “2020 Padua Muscle Days: Mobility Medicine 30 years of Translational Research” conference. It highlights the importance of translational research in addressing diseases affecting mobility. The conference aims to classify and manage mobility-related diseases, ranging from neurologic and metabolic syndromes to aging. The conference and its associated journal, the European Journal of Translational Myology (EJTM), represent a long-standing tradition of skeletal muscle research at Padua University. The focus has broadened over the years from strictly myology issues to wider clinical interests, including pain, mobility, and genetic approaches. The abstracts in this collection showcase multidisciplinary approaches needed for effective management of mobility diseases. It also hopes to foster collaborations between researchers and clinicians.
The research presented could lead to new and improved strategies for physical medicine and rehabilitation, helping individuals regain mobility and reduce pain.
The translational research highlighted may facilitate the development of targeted therapies for various mobility-related diseases, including genetic and age-related conditions.
The conference and its associated initiatives encourage collaboration between specialists from diverse fields, fostering a more comprehensive approach to understanding and treating mobility disorders.
