This study explores the challenges and supportive elements in the education received by individuals with spinal cord injuries (SCI) during their rehabilitation. It aims to understand how to improve this education. The findings highlight the importance of being ready to learn, individual characteristics like motivation, and environmental and social factors in influencing education during SCI rehabilitation.
Design structured educational programs based on the experiences of healthcare professionals and people living with SCI.
Implement specific training for healthcare professionals to improve patient-clinician communication and understand patients’ needs and expectations.
Encourage the development of community-based education programs supervised by experts from rehabilitation centers to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and home.
