This review examines the methods used to measure how well manual wheelchair users (MWU) can move around and participate in their communities. It looks at factors that affect their community mobility and participation (CMP) and explores rehabilitation techniques to improve these aspects, ultimately aiming to enhance their quality of life. The review highlights the importance of considering community, personal, and environmental factors in rehabilitation efforts, and it identifies areas for future research to further support the well-being of MWU.
Rehabilitation specialists can use the identified best practices for measuring CMP to track patients' progress accurately.
Understanding the factors that impact CMP allows for the development of tailored interventions to address specific barriers faced by MWU.
The recommendations made in the review can guide future research efforts to further enhance the community mobility and participation of MWU.
