Neuropathic pain is a common and difficult symptom after spinal cord injury (SCI). This review investigates if acupuncture helps with this pain. The study looked at multiple research papers to see if acupuncture helps SCI-induced neuropathic pain. The analysis suggests acupuncture may help manage pain after SCI, especially electroacupuncture.
Acupuncture, particularly electroacupuncture, may be considered as a complementary therapy for managing neuropathic pain following spinal cord injury.
Further high-quality studies with larger sample sizes are needed to confirm the efficacy of acupuncture and explore the underlying mechanisms.
These results may provide an important reference value for clinical investigation and provide essential information to decision-makers.
