This study investigates the use of home-based virtual reality fitness training (VRFT) as a method for rehabilitation in patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) after they are discharged from the hospital. Participants will be assigned to either an 8-week VRFT program or a control group engaging in regular daily activities to measure the effectiveness of VRFT. The goal is to determine if VRFT is a safe and effective way for SCI patients to continue their rehabilitation at home, improving muscle function, fitness, body composition, and physical performance.
Home-based VRFT can enhance access to rehabilitation for SCI patients, allowing them to extend their training period and potentially achieve better outcomes.
Game-centered VRFT helps alleviate the boredom often associated with traditional exercise therapy, promoting greater encouragement to participate in workouts.
The study could generate significant data to inform the creation of more thorough rehabilitation programs for individuals with SCI moving forward.
